Key Stage 2 and 3

While KS3 took on the track and field events with full sprints and running up to 800metres, shot putt and long Jump, KS2 participated in team games such as handball, capture the flag and tug of war. Half way through, the two key stages swapped round to make sure everyone had the chance to compete both on and off the track.

Zhongshan Foreign Language School

The children from our host school also joined in to participate in various tug of war contests against out BSG students. A great day was enjoyed by everyone with some excellent sporting displays being on show as well as children showing excellent sportsmanship to their classmates. BSG would like to pay particular thanks to The Zhongshan Foreign Language School for their kind hospitality, as the school grows, it is great to see relations in the community growing also.

Foundation Sports

Tuesday 16th March saw our annual Foundation Sport’s Day and what an event it turned out to be. Although the weather outside was rather chilly, the atmosphere in the hall was definitely heated.

Ready, Aim..Fire!

The children warmed up with a house colour singing parade through the corridors of school and then the races began. The obstacle course was a great challenge, especially for the smaller members of Foundation, and then it was the balancing race. The final children’s race was the aiming race, which showed that one team in particular need to practice a little more for next year!

Key Stage 1

On Tuesday 16th March Key Stage One enjoyed Sports Day on the Nanhu Campus. The children were extremely excited and were dressed in their house colours or PE kit and some children even brought banners and musical shakers to add to the fun and excitement.

Capture The Flag

Mr. Gooding and Miss. Rachel explained the afternoon’s events to the children before Year 1 went to compete in the athletics competition and Year 2 went to play the team game ‘Capture the Flag.’ The children had lots of fun and there was a great competitive atmosphere during Capture the Flag.  It was clear that Miss. Rachel’s lessons on tactics this term really paid off for the teams.  The children showed good team spirit and cheered each other on enthusiastically.

Pull! Pull! Pull!

The highlight of the team games section was the tug of war game. The children really showed their strength and determination as they competed to be the first team to pull the ribbon over the line. As the children tugged on the rope with all of their might, their parents cheered them on (very enthusiastically).  Finally, there was a ‘Parents v Teachers’ tug of war competition, which was eventually won by the parents after both teams put in a huge effort.

Track and Field

The second half of the competition was an athletics carousel. The children were divided into groups of eight and took part in a sprint, long distance running race, javelin throw, chest pass and a long jump competition. The children received stickers for first, second and third place, which they wore proudly on their chests.  The afternoon was finished off with long distance relay races for Year 1 and then Year 2.
