 Academic ResultsSATS (Standardised Assessment Tests) tests are given at the end of the academic year to all students starting from Year 2. They are used to show your child's progress compared with other children in the same age range. These standardised tests aim to measure the performance of all pupils following the National Curriculum and show the level of attainment in reading, writing and mathematics. The British School of Guangzhou administers SATs at the end of each academic year to all it's students from Year 2 upwards.

Students from Year 2 to Year 6 have received results for SAT exams. We are delighted to report the following:
Numeracy: Our results are very good in this area of the curriculum with 93% of our students performing at or above the expectations of the National Curriculum.
Reading: We are particularly proud of these excellent results, with 87% of our students achieving at the expected level or above. This indicates very good standards of English at BSG.
Writing: In many ways the most pleasing set of results with 86% of our students achieving at the expected level or above. These results are significantly higher than many successful British Schools. It is a very good achievement and rewards the hard work we have been doing to develop extended writing through the school this year.
Please note: many students at the school are non-native English speakers, often reading and writing in English as a second (or third!) language. 10-15% of students at the school receive enhanced English language tuition. These students are expected to be performing at a similar level to the rest of the pupils in their age group well before the end of the first year at our school. |
